Is Advertising Worth $100K In Student Debt?

A June 2022 article on Forbes.com, Is College Worth The Cost? Pros Vs. Cons support a consensus of research that the investment of getting a degree isn't worth the cost.

From 2010 to the present, enrollment has fallen by 17 percent, or 3.3 million students*. When the typical investment for education to enter advertising is six figures, and the average base pay for entering advertising is less than $40K**, the ROI to learn how to make ads doesn't make sense.

Many reasons caused the dramatic cost increase in higher education. Suffice it to say, a few of those reasons improved the quality of students' education.

This trend should be a wake-up call for the advertising industry and its educators. Our very survival depends on it.

It's time the ad industry and educators cut costs to educate the desperately needed talent.
